The Leadership Women Board of Directors announces the appointment of Shannon Caldwell, Rosalind (Roz) Denning and Sarah Fontenot to the Board for 2023. This year will mark the first year of a three-year term.
Shannon Caldwell resides in Lawrenceville, Georgia where she builds new capacity for organizations and helps great businesses and businesspeople tell their stories to investors and stakeholders. She is presently leading the redesign of career management for executive and professional MBA students at the University of Georgia, after building the full-time MBA career program for the school. She previously started and ran two new functions for Columbia University’s business school. She worked in business development for telecommunications service provider Omnipoint before its sale to T-Mobile, and in investment banking raising capital for industrial companies at Salomon Brothers before its sale to Citi. She holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, an MFA in creative writing from The New School, and a BBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University. Shannon is a 2020 graduate of Leadership America.
Roz Denning resides in Detroit, Michigan and serves as the President of READ Consulting Service. She started her career as a high school Culinary Arts teacher in Detroit Public Schools Community District. She also worked as an Advisor to the student co-curricular organization, Skills USA, and coached high school students and teachers for skill and leadership competitions. Rosalind was promoted to high school Career and Technical Education Department Head and later elevated to Program Administrator in the Office of Career and Technical Education. Rosalind is the recipient of the Booker T. Washington Educators Award and Michigan VICA Advisor of the Year Award. By developing an Entrepreneurship Education Program, Rosalind became the first national award recipient of the Cathy Ashmore Leadership and Advocacy Award for Entrepreneurship Education. She serves as Board Chair for the Black United Fund of Michigan, a youth empowerment organization, and former Board Chair for Neighborhood Service Organization, a health and human services agency. Nationally, she sits on the board of The Black Women’s Agenda, made up of women’s organizations, which address issues that affect women and their families. Roz is a 2022 Leadership America graduate.
Sarah Fontenot returns Board after having served in 2013-2014. She resides in Fredericksburg, Texas and is a professional speaker on healthcare, having started her career as a nurse and as an attorney. She speaks extensively for the American College of Healthcare Executives [ACHE] and multiple other national provider groups. 2020 will be Sarah’s 23rd year as the Adjunct Professor for Health Law at Trinity University. Her twice-monthly newsletter, “Fontenotes” provides concise information about our health care system and is regularly republished by professional organizations such as the Texas Medical Association. Sarah is a proud member of the Board of Directors at Peterson Health in Kerrville and begins a three-year term on the American Hospital Association Committee on Governance in February. A graduate of Leadership Texas 2007 and Leadership America 2020, Sarah served on the Board of Directors for Leadership Women 2011- 2016. Sarah lives in Fredericksburg with her husband Michael. They have two fine sons who are chasing their dreams. She is a Leadership Texas 2007 graduate and a Leadership America 2020 graduate.
