All of us at Leadership Women hope you are enjoying September as we come to the end of summer (already?) These days, everyone remarks that time seems to be speeding up, and we definitely agree! The last Newsletter spoke about the kick off sessions for our two flagship programs – Leadership Texas and Leadership America – and now here we are, coming up to the conclusion of both.
We think that 2019 has been one of our best programming years ever, and from the comments and feedback we have received – you seem to agree! A terrific LA session in Seattle featured futurist Mary O’Hara Devereaux, a behind the scenes tour of Boeing, and a discussion on the challenges women leaders face by Dr. Pepper Schwartz. Our two mid-year LT sessions in Laredo (discussing border issues) and Bryan/College Station (discussing collaboration and emergency preparedness) had a record numbers of graduates attending to support the classes. Our Pipeline class this year – Aug 10/11 – had the highest number of attendees ever, and evaluations were heart -warming for us!
Since our last Newsletter we have also launched the Leadership Women Philanthropic Planning Council – a prestigious group of high profile LW graduates who have committed to raising funds over their year of service to help us expand our programming throughout the country. Read about the wonderful members of this special Council on the LWPPC page of the website.
Another highlight for us was the recently held planning retreat for LW Ambassadors, and we were pleased to introduce their new Co-ordinator – Michelle Vasquez from the San Antonio Region. Michelle has volunteered to function as the liaison between LW administration and our thousands of active LW graduates, and her team of Regional Ambassadors offer their time to organize graduate get togethers, program recruitment and send-off events. Under Michelle’s leadership, the entire team work to keep the alum in their regions connected – and they welcome any and all suggestions from you – just look them up on the website and reach out!
Coming up are the concluding sessions for both LA and LT (in Atlanta and Austin respectively) and once again I remind you all that you are welcome to attend any portion of these sessions. If you are an LA graduate and want to join us in Atlanta, please click Atlanta Event Registration. If you are an LT graduate and want to register for the Austin session, click Austin Event Registration.
A reminder to let us know if you are interested in becoming one of our featured Speakers, or are in a position to volunteer some time to the organization. As a non-profit, we always seem to have more tasks to do than people to do them! So please let Laura Logan or Linda Crompton know if you are interested.
Another reminder that this is the time of year we renew Memberships – so please renew today!
Watch for some exciting new announcements on the website about 2020 – and have a terrific Fall.
