This newsletter goes out to you as the end of summer looms, and with a bit of a “Groundhog Day” feel to it! I think by now we had all believed that the whole pandemic mess would be in the past – but it seems like we will still need to be patient for that to be the case. We do hope though, that despite the restrictions, the uncertainty and the continually changing advice from different sources – that you have still been able to enjoy some happy summertime moments with friends and family. As we all know, the emergence and then aftermath of Covid 19 has been so disruptive on so many fronts- children’s education, the workplace, overwhelmed hospitals, the particular impact on women, not to mention everyone’s sense of well being and trust – that it is difficult to say anything original about it. Please know that you are uppermost in our minds and hearts here at Leadership Women – and we want nothing more than to just get things back to normal!

Thank you to all of you who have been ‘hanging in there’ with us on the programming front. We still have in person sessions planned and booked for San Antonio, Atlanta, Tyler and Washington, DC over the remaining months of this year – and are optimistic that the increasing vaccination rates will ‘see off’ the Delta variant and allow all to go ahead as planned. A number of you have commented that while you miss the opportunity to get together in person, that you appreciate our efforts to stay in touch virtually and through polls and social media posts. We do our best! And to any of you with specific ideas about what you would like to see us deliver or convene – please email me at [email protected] – I always love to hear those ideas and it really does help with our planning.

And we have lots of our own plans too of course. As I have mentioned before in this space, we are about to launch a brand new program – “Leadership Encore” – so watch for the announcement next week! This program is designed for those of you contemplating making a major change in the months ahead – whether due to upcoming retirement or post pandemic reassessment of your career future– and are looking for sources of inspiration, new ideas and more of the LW collegiality!

And speaking of your colleagues, we continue to be impressed with how many of you are doing interesting, new things– go to our Leadership Women Kudos section to read about some of these amazing women. Again – if you know of any grads whose achievements you would like us to know about and tell others about, just email Laura at [email protected]. We are a network that celebrates each other, and it feels like that is more important than ever these days!

Wishing you all a fun and safe rest of the summer.
