As we get further into Spring and the temperature edges up, here at LW our activity calendar heats up too! Last month the Leadership Texas program got underway in the welcoming city of San Antonio, a program that included an update from the Federal Reserve, inspirational remarks from both the city Manager and the Mayor and the latest developments in treating Alzheimer’s disease. Our increasingly popular Luminaries dinner featured prominent local women leaders such as LW Board Members Pilar Oates and Isabel de la Riva, Patricia Alvarez, Dr. Mary Pat Moyer, Kim Olson, Erika Prosper, LW San Antonio Ambassador Ana Nelson, Marian Sokol, Donnie Whited, and Major General (Ret.) Angie Salinas, who heads up the Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas. Speaking of which, you may notice the new Girl Scouts logo on our website which proudly announces our new partnership with this wonderful organization! We are very excited about this new relationship – look for more details soon and opportunities for our own alum to get involved.
Early this month we also launched our 2019 Leadership America program in Washington, DC with Laura Liswood, the Secretary General of the World Women Leaders organization, discussing the current state of women’s leadership around the world. The event featured panels from the United States Treasury – and a guest visit from the Secretary of the Treasury, Steven Mnuchin – as well as a tour of the Capital Visitor Center and presentations on the healthcare crisis, journalistic integrity and the growing importance of community leadership – we are still catching our breath! Future sessions this year are in Seattle and Atlanta – and remember, as an alum you are welcome to join us at any of these sessions, just contact Laura Logan for details.
In this edition we also feature LW Ambassador from San Antonio, Ana Nelson. Ana, and her fellow Ambassadors, are an important part of Leadership Women – read about Ana and also review the Ambassador list to see who represents your area. And make sure you check out our new LW Career Center – where you can find information on how to post a position within your organization, how to search for jobs listed and how you can add your resume to our Resume Bank.
And just to remind you – if you are an alum of LW who is looking for speaking engagements or know of Board or employment opportunities you would like to advertise – just let us know.
We always like hearing from you!
