Dr. Barbara Young was a spiritual, dynamic, energetic, highly successful International Media Personality who was passionate and driven in her goal to transform the lives of individuals for greater success. She made her debut as a Radio Talk Show Host of “Transformation for Success” on Inner-Light Radio in 2011 and then LA Talk Radio in 2012. She became a host on the Voice America international platform in 2013. The sad news of her passing on January 8, 2021, was felt by many who knew and loved Barbara.
Barbara was a graduate of Leadership America 1997 and later served as Board Chair of Leadership America under Katha Kissman’s leadership. “Whatever she did was done with her full measure of commitment and devotion,” recalled Katha. Lana Porter, Past Board Chair of Leadership Women and a Leadership America 1995 graduate, noted “I was privileged to know Barbara for many years and honored to call her friend. She was an inspiration to so many people and changed so many lives. I loved her and all she stood for.” Hattie Hill, a 1994 Leadership America and a 1998 Leadership Texas graduate, as well as a past Board member of Leadership Women, echoed, “We loved her and she will be missed.”
In addition to her success as a international media talk show host, producer and speaker, Barbara founded a non-profit, Success 4U Foundation to empower teen girls and their parents with tools for personal and leadership development. She also founded and launched Personal Life Growth Development/Leadership Seminars and Women Power Broker Series for women locally, nationally and internationally. Barbara offered solutions she designed from a holistic perspective. Her view was radically unique. Dr. “B” as she was called was the ‘Go-To Influencer today for many men and women seeking to have their voices heard through media and who wanted to make a difference in the world. As a former senior level administrator and professor in education for well over 30 years, she traveled extensively internationally and nationally in providing seminars, workshops and motivational talks to women and world leaders.
As the author of Dancing on Broken Legs: Journey of a D.I.V.A., Barbara shared with complete transparency and authenticity of how she struggled and navigated life’s teachable moments, learning sometimes by default. She shared her success and spiritual principles learned and how she applied them to find professional and personal success to keep on “dancing.”

It is with heavy hearts that we share her passing with all of her friends, family, supporters, and mentees. Dr. Barbara was the epitome of a Woman of God who loved all! She shared her wisdom with all she encountered and left her beautiful mark on this earth. It was her life’s work to assist all those she encountered and help them to transform their lives!
