Dale Simons (Driftwood, Texas) retired in 2010 from a 30 year career in nonprofit management where she served as CEO, EVP and VP for Development at 6 agencies both local and nationally: Children’s Research Triangle, Chicago, IL- Volunteer Center of Longview, TX.; Longview Regional Community Foundation–Center for Nonprofit Management, Longview, TX—East Texas Treatment Center, Kilgore, TX– The Arc of Texas, Communities in Schools of Central Texas, and The Marbridge Foundation in Austin, TX. A native of Bay City, TX she received her education at Christian College (now Columbia College) in Columbia, MO. and The University of Texas at Austin, majoring in political science. During her volunteer career she served on 27 nonprofit boards and was elected a City Council Member (Longview, TX). She was recognized as Sustainer of the Year for the Junior League of Longview and was elected as the sustainer/nominating chair for The Association of Junior League International Board of Directors from 1993-97. She served on the Board of Leadership Women for two terms. Dale’s legacy has always been the development of a working strategic plan and value’s based leadership. Dale is serving as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Columbia College and is a member of the President’s Society; a board member of Sweet Sleep, an international ministry for foster children; From The Heart Fund, a community collaboration for mental health issues in school aged children in Matagorda County, TX. and a newly formed Philanthropy Planning Council formed for Leadership Women. She continues to be a member of The Chancellor’s Council, The Littlefield Society and a Lifetime Texas-Ex at the University of Texas; a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta alumnae association; a sustainer of the Junior League of Austin and founder of Camp Simons, a summer, faith based leadership camp for her 8 grandchildren. Dale credits her lifetime career in nonprofits and philanthropy for her continued belief that every organization must have love of mankind, i.e. philanthropy, as one of its core values!
