Our Founders
Leadership Women recognizes the nine incredible women, who out of their mutual interests in politics in general and women’s issues in particular, saw a need to contribute to the success of other women. From their first project in 1977 with the publication of “Women in Texas Politics” to the development of the “Texas Women’s History Project” in 1980 to Cathy Bonner’s big idea for Leadership Texas in 1982, these women sought to provide women a critical leg up through access to the latest information and top leaders, while creating a network of great diversity. Through their efforts, Leadership Texas, Leadership America, Leadership Pipeline, Leadership Launch and Leadership International were established to help women recognize their full potential and to encourage them make a difference in their community and in their organizations. We continue to honor them today!
